A popular West Midtown business that offered canning and preserving classes is closing its doors at the end of the month.
Preserving Place, which opened at the Westside Provisions District at 100 Howell Mill Road in 2013, sent an email to customers late last month and posted on its Facebook page addressing the closure:

Owner Martha McMillin opened Preserving Place in 2013 after the business gained traction at local farmers markets.
Customers were able to buy equipment and cookbooks if they wanted to can on their own, or they could enroll in the almost daily classes to learn about canning, making baby food and even an introduction to fermented foods like sauerkraut.
Westside Provisions District recently lost another high profile tenant when Bacchanalia and Star Provision moved to the Ellsworth Office Lofts . Poké spot Poke Perfect recently announced it would open in the development in the former Yoforia space this summer.
