A burger spot that opened to much fanfare a little more than two years ago has closed.

Illegal Food , which started as a popular pop-up at Joystick Gamebar in Edgewood before opening a brick-and-mortar location at 1044 Greenwood Ave. N.E in Virginia-Highland, addressed the closure on its Instagram and Facebook accounts:

Former AJC food critic John Kessler gave the restaurant two stars when he reviewed it in 2015. Once the restaurant addressed service issues, he wrote, he'd "have a burger worth driving for."
