A Mexican favorite has closed its doors in Sandy Springs after less than two years.

Ray's Rio Bravo, which opened in the former Peter Chang's Tasty China II space at 6450 Powers Ferry Road in August 2015, announced the closure in a Facebook post according to Patch. The page has since been deleted.

"We are incredibly appreciative of the support of our guests and the hard work of our staff.  We hope to see you at our other restaurants, including Ray’s in the City, Ray’s on the River and Ray’s at Killer Creek."

Owner Ray Schoenbaum opened the Tex-Mex restaurant after "high demand from customers requesting the return of the restaurant's iconic dishes," he said in 2015 .

Schoenbaum sold the original Rio Bravo, which opened more than 30 years ago and later closed.

In a December 2015 review, AJC food editor Ligaya Figueras said Ray's "is not bringing much new to the table," and that "you'll dine on gringo Mexican that was popular decades ago."
