A new La Madeleine Country French Café will open in Buford next week (bringing with it the chance for customers to win free bread for a year ), but if that location isn't in your neck of the woods, there will be plenty of other opportunities to get your French food fix around metro Atlanta.

Kyle Hakim, vice president of R. Hakim Corp., the franchise ownership bringing the new stores to Georgia, said he plans to open nine more metro La Madeleine locations in the next few years, including locations in Alpharetta and Peachtree Corners.

Hakim, who has extensive experience in the restaurant industry in his native Texas, said his mother took him to La Madeleine every Saturday when he was growing up, so when he learned the restaurant was open to expanding in Georgia, he jumped at the chance. He is also opening La Madeleine stores in North Carolina.

"We'll embody French culture in the local community," he said of the restaurants, which serve breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes including homemade soups, salads, pastas and entrees such as Beef Bourguignon and Chicken Crêpe Riviera.
