The Emory Village location of Lucky’s Burger and Brew will close permanently after temporarily closing in April due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Owner Ernie Geyer told What Now Atlanta that he decided not to renew the restaurant's lease after Emory University announced students, who make up a large part of the eatery's customer base, wouldn't return to campus until fall at the earliest.

Lucky's, which opened at 1569 N. Decatur Road five years ago, joins several other metro Atlanta restaurants that have permanently closed since the coronavirus pandemic took firm hold in the U.S. in March.

The other Lucky's locations in Brookhaven, Roswell and Marietta have all reopened for dine-in service.

The AJC has reached out to Geyer for comment on the closure.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
