9 lavender drinks and desserts to try in metro Atlanta

Lavender is suited to more than just soap—enjoy the fragrant herb in ice cream, cocktails and more at these metro Atlanta restaurants. If you don’t feel like venturing out, try your hand at one of these lavender recipes

Amelie’s Cafe. The French eatery offers an elegant twist on a summer classic in the form of its lavender lemonade. The upgraded drink is made from freshly squeezed lemon juice, lavender simple syrup and sparkling water.

Bone Garden Cantina. Craving Mexican food? You can still get your lavender fix when you head to Bone Garden Cantina. The Tranquilo cocktail combines Tequila Cabeza with lavender, green tea, citrus and mint.

The Iberian Pig. Spanish tapas restaurant The Iberian Pig mixes lavender tea with Cynar, agave, lemon and Larceny Bourbon to make the Kentucky Bubble Bath.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Jeni’s is known for its inventive ice cream flavors, and Wildberry Lavender is no exception. The pastel purple dessert combines pulverized blackcurrants with sweet orange and lavender essential oils. Pair it with a scoop of Pistachio and Honey or the Lemon and Blueberries Buttermilk Frozen Yogurt.

Little Tart Bakeshop. Sarah O’Brien’s bakeries offer lavender two ways, via its Lavender Latte and lavender lemon sablés, which pair perfectly with a cup of coffee or afternoon tea.

Morelli’s. Another ice cream store known for its unusual combinations, Morelli’s makes its Ginger Lavender flavor by mixing fresh lavender steeped in heavy cream with ginger ice cream. If you’re up for an adventure, pair it with Coconut Jalapeno or Red Raspberry Coke.

Saltwood Charcuterie and Bar. Saltwood has a cocktail called “Contingency Plan,” but it should be your Plan A if you’re looking for a lavender drink. The bar, located in the lobby of the Loews Atlanta Hotel, mixes the drink from Tito's vodka, lavender syrup and fresh lemon.

Sip the Experience. Looking for a floral pick-me-up during your commute? SIP The Experience is just off the Lindbergh Center station. The breakfast and brunch cafe serves lavender hot chocolate blended from a house-made base and tops it with whipped cream.

Sun In My Belly. Order a house-made lavender biscuit or two with brunch at Sun in My Belly, which boasts options like savory French toast and a pimento cheese omelette. The biscuits are served with butter and fruit spread.
