Juicy Jenny, the juice bar operated by Souper Jenny owner Jenny Levison, closed its doors in Buckhead over the weekend.

The location, which was open for three years at 56 East Andrews Drive, served up juices, smoothies and gluten-free and vegan lunch options.

Levison addressed the closure in a blog post on the spot's Facebook page:

Dear incredibly loyal guests,

It has been a sad and difficult decision to make, but, I wanted to personally let you know…

As of Saturday, July 1st, Juicy Jenny will close it’s doors. I have felt privileged for the past three years to have offered our community an organic haven of cold pressed juices, smoothies and a 100% gluten free and vegan lunch bar and bakery. It was my mission to teach our community more about whole foods and how they play a role in our daily health and it has been an honor to serve you.

As always, I am an open book about business and I want to be honest and tell you that this has been such a difficult decision to make because my life has never been about the financials of what our stores make, but about how we serve and feed the community. Working within the world of juicing has taught me a great deal. Organics are expensive and the labor involved to cold press fantastic juice costs as much or more as the product itself. When we say five pounds of vegetables go into your 16 ounce juice, we mean it!

The costs of labor, overhead and organics was just not balancing with the price I felt we could charge and I did not want to lower the quality of what we were producing.

Over the past week, I have returned to the kitchen in one of our Souper Jenny stores which has been a wonderful reminder of why I came into this business. I am extremely passionate about good food, good people and nourishing our community through sitting around the table and sharing an experience. I promise that we will always strive to take care of each of you as if I were receiving you in my home.

We also promise that as soon as possible, we will move our juice production to one of our other stores, so you can still get your organic juice fix in Buckhead and Brookhaven as well as gluten free/vegan baked goods. We will also be more mindful of our Vegan and gluten free options at all of our Souper Jenny locations.

A Souper Jenny location had been located on East Andrews Drive closed in May in preparation for a new space in the Atlanta History Center that opened in April .

There are also Souper Jenny locations in Brookhaven, Decatur and Westside Atlanta.
