A new Mexican restaurant from the team behind popular Brookhaven restaurant Kaleidescope is set to open its doors this Friday, and another recently opened for business.

Jefe's Tacos & Tequila will open at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at Town Brookhaven at 705 Town Blvd. in the former Noche space, with a "Day of the Dead" vibe complete with blue and yellow, Spanish tile and dia de los muertos skulls.

The taqueria and tequila bar from Joseph Riley, also the executive chef and owner of Kaleidoscope Bistro & Pub, has a menu that features Mexican favorites including chile con queso, guacamole, chicken tortilla soup, pork posole, 12 different tacos (of the chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and veggie varieties), enchiladas, a new torta every day and quesadillas. All the meats used are smoked in-house.

On the beverage side, Jefe's offers 60 different tequilas, a custom cocktail list that specializes in tequila-based cocktails, beer and wine and house-made red and white sangria.

Jefe's will be open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with later bar hours.

A few doors down, Tin Can Oyster Bar has opened for business.

Run by siblings Harry and Nik Panagopoulos and Arte Antoniades, the new Tin Can Oyster Bar location — which moves into the spot vacated by Here to Serve's Shucks Oyster and Wine Bar late last year — features a variety of oysters, a selection of open-faced "toasties" with a variety of topping choices, mussels, salads, seafood stew and New England and Manhattan chowders.

Arte and Nik have owned the original Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar and Mexican restaurant Teela Taqueria in City Walk at Sandy Springs for seven years as part of the Teela Restaurant Group. The siblings also recently opened Filo's in Chastain Square.

Tin Can is currently open for dinner from 5-10 p.m. through September, and will begin serving lunch in October.

In addition, a Tropical Smoothie Cafe is set to open in Town Brookhaven this year.
