A beer shop that has been a West Midtown mainstay for the better part of a decade is closing its doors at the end of the year, and hopes to go out with a bang.

Craft beer and wine retailer Hop City Craft Beer & Wine "wants to give back to the community who has given so much to them over the past 10 years," according to a press release, after announcing it will close its original location at 1000 Marietta St. NW at the end of December.

From 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, "loyal friends and fans" are invited to the West Midtown store for a farewell party. All large-format beers, select wines and growler fills will be 20% off, and complimentary bites will be provided by Boxcar, the restaurant from the Hop City team that opened in West End earlier this year.

Three locations of Hop City will remain: One at Inman Park mixed-use development Krog Street Market, one in the Lee + White development in West End, also home to Boxcar, and a third in Birmingham, Alabama. The Hop City team is also behind Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar in Alpharetta mixed-use development Avalon, with another location and a Hop City planned for Fayette County development Pinewood Forest in 2020.
