Eight Sushi Lounge in West Midtown is rightly known for its sushi. But after taking home top honors at the Atlanta Ramen Festival two years in a row with its pork and lobster varieties of ramen, the team behind Eight decided to set its sights on serving ramen to the masses full-time.
So was born E Ramen, which opened this week at 1110 W. Peachtree NW in the Northside Medical office building. A sister concept to Eight Sushi Lounge, which opened on Howell Mill Road in 2015, E's menu offers a variety of ramens, salads, hand rolls, small bites and rice bowls.
Ramen options include the lobster ramen and E’s Signature pork ramen, which won awards in 2016 and 2017, as well as seven other offerings including a dry ramen and vegetarian and vegan options.
The lobster ramen, which was previously available on Eight’s menu in limited quantities, will now only be available at E Ramen. The E’s Signature pork ramen will still be available at Eight Sushi on a limited basis.
Other E Ramen menu highlights include the It’s a Wrap, made with a choice of pork or chicken chasyu wrapped in Asian flatbread with cilantro and cucumber, as well as hand rolls made with crispy shrimp, chicken karaage or pork.
Windy Ho, who owns E Ramen as well as Eight with her family, is a certified sake sommelier who put together a selection of 10 sakes as well as Eight’s private label sake.
“There are things you probably can’t find anywhere else,” Ho said. “We’re trying to do some more fun stuff,” including sake in juice boxes, cups and cans.
“We want to educate people on drinking sake, while at the same time wanting them to enjoy it.”
In addition to sake, the full bar will also offer cocktails, wine, Japanese whiskys and beer.
The 77-seat space was designed by Sara Hawker of DeCarlo & Hawker Architecture & Design.
E Ramen will be open from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
