Genuine Pizza open at Phipps and other top metro Atlanta dining news from the week

A pizza spot from a James Beard Award-winning chef is now open in Phipps Plaza.

Located at the mall's main entrance, Genuine Pizza is the brainchild of Michael Schwartz, who also owns locations in Florida. The eatery offers 12 quick-fired pizzas as well as snacks, soups, salads entrees and signature items including short rib pizza, polenta fries with spicy ketchup, Brussels sprouts and burrata and chocolate chunk cookies ,as well as daily pizza and soup specials. Genuine Pizza also serves wince and Atlanta craft beers.

The interior, with 64 seats inside, seven at the counter and six at the pizza bar, will feature “light woods and simple accents like custom yellow and grey Cuban tile, orange chairs, and the yellow-tiled Marra Forni oven,” according to a press release. The pizza bar will front the open kitchen and a glass-faced dough room at the entrance. There's also outdoor dining for 36 with heaters and a small private dining room.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday and noon-10 p.m. Sunday. Takeout is also available.
