If you're an athlete, chances are you also pay attention to your diet as you seek to stay ahead of the pack.

So mark your calendar for July 2, when you can meet Shalane Flanagan, four-time long-distance Olympian and co-author of the 2016 cookbook "Run Fast Eat Slow: Nourishing Recipes for Athletes."

Flanagan and co-author chef Elyse Kopecky will be in Atlanta to discuss the book, designed to improve the diet of runners. The author appearance, sponsored by the Atlanta Track Club and presented by Whole Foods Markets, will be held July 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center. The $100 admission cost includes a meet-and-greet with Flanagan and Kopecky, a hardcover copy of the book, a We Are Atlanta Track Club t-shirt and the opportunity to win door prizes. Proceeds benefit Atlanta Track Club's Kilometer Kids youth running program.
