Isn't it grand?

Grand Lux Cafe is set to join the roster of new tenants at Buckhead's Phipps Plaza this summer.

It will be the first Atlanta location for the California-based chain, developed by the founders of The Cheesecake Factory. There are also locations in Florida, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.

The concept -- which blends "the grandeur and luxury of European cafes with the sensibilities and spirit of an all-American restaurant" according to a press release will open on the upper level of the mall, across from Frontgate. The lengthy menu features a variety of appetizers, salads, pasta, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, steaks and seafood and also offers lunch specials and a brunch menu.

Grand Lux Cafe will join previously announced restaurants Ecco and Daniel Reed's Public Kitchen & Bar , which are also slated to open at Phipps this year, while Nobu Hotel and Nobu Atlanta Restaurant are scheduled to open in 2019.

Genuine Pizza recently opened its first Atlanta location at Phipps.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
