This week, we chatted via email with Atlanta native Mike Render, better known as rapper Killer Mike of the duo Run the Jewels. He's also a Grammy Award winner, political activist, entrepreneur and a newly-minted member of the High Museum of Art's board of directors.

They offer real southern breakfast and it’s in the heart of southwest Atlanta. I eat there and fellowship with my elders and with the community. I meet with Rev. Albert E. Love and CT Martin and I get my grassroots info. I love their pancakes, eggs and beef links with cheese grits.

I am not a coffee drinker, but when I drink coffee, I drink it from Café + Velo. It’s on Edgewood, right up the street from my barber shop The SWAG Shop. Their coffee tastes like hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is the bomb as well.

It’s a three-way tie. If I’m on the east side of Atlanta, Ann’s Snack Bar. They have the best burgers in the world. If I’m intown, I like Sweet Auburn Seafood. Their service is always on par and their food and music is great. If I’m on the west side, I like Milk and Honey. I love their turkey meatloaf and I appreciate their service.

My favorite place for happy hour is the Blue Flame Lounge, which is a strip club. I typically have lemon pepper wings with whiskey and Sprite on ice.

That place will never let you down! I have crab leg buckets and lobster tails. They have great food with a Margaritaville vibe. The only thing missing is the ocean.
