Chef Hector Santiago returns to the kitchen at  The Sound Table tonight for another round of his Peruvian-Chinese pop-up, Chifa Capon. Best known for his Pura Vida, Super Pan, and El Burro Pollo concepts in Poncey-Highland, Santiago has hosted a series of pop-up dinners at The Sound Table and other spots since stepping down as executive chef at  Abattoir in Sept. 2014.

On the Chifa Capon menu, look for the likes of pan-seared pork and shrimp dumplings, chicken wings chicharron, and quinoa fried rice with head-on Florida shrimp.

Oddbird hatching

Oddbird , a pop-up fried chicken "restaurant within a restaurant," opens at West Egg Cafe tonight, with ongoing hours 5:30-9 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays.

On the menu: Springer Mountain chicken breasts dredged in a cornmeal and flour blend, fried in soybean oil, and served as biscuits, sandwiches or chicken and waffles. Salads and sides include coleslaw, pickled veggies, mac and cheese and collard greens, with chocolate, lemon and pecan pies for dessert.
