There's a new spot for Bangladeshi food in Atlanta. Surprise! It's not on Buford Highway.
Ruchi Bangladeshi Cuisine, which opened its doors last week at 4847 Peachtree Road in Chamblee, features an expansive menu of Bengladeshi and Indian staples including butter chicken, vindaloo and a variety of naans, as well as lesser-known dishes such as garlic chili morich, a Bangladeshi dish made with green chili, chopped tomato, garlic and spices with a choice of chicken, lamb, goat, tilapia, salmon or shrimp. The spot will also offer a selection of desserts and will soon serve beer, wine and liquor.
Owner Amit Shapta -- a 22-year-old full-time student who plans to go start a physician assistant program this year -- said he's excited to bring food from his native Bangladesh to Chamblee. He'll have an experienced chef in the kitchen while he pursues his studies in his father, who has cooked at several other restaurants.
Ruchi is open for lunch -- which offers an all-you-can-eat buffet for $9.99 -- from 11:30-2:30 Monday-Friday and noon-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and for dinner everyday from 5-10:30 p.m.
