Celebrate Black History Month at Marietta food history event

There are plenty of ways to celebrate Black History Month, but if you like your history with a side of food, an event at the Switzer Library in Marietta will likely cook up some interest.

"America Food History of African-Americans in the South" will explore the food contributions of early African-Americans, examining how slaves survived on these foods after their arrival in America. There will also be a cooking demonstration showing how herbs can take the place of salt in neo-soul dishes. The class is taught by Terri Carter, a Cobb County master gardener and family and consumer science staff member.
