A new Indian spot made its official debut on Buford Highway over the weekend.

Monsoon Masala Kitchen & Sweets opened at 3979 Buford Hwy. in Chamblee, in Crossroads Shopping Center, where both Cuban spot Havana and Mexican seafood restaurant Mariscos el Malacon are housed. The menu features Indian classics including a variety of tikka masalas and tandooris, as well as dishes with a Bangladeshi influence, including shrimp malai curry and haleem, a traditional spicy dish made with meat and four kinds of lentils.

As far as the "sweets" in the restaurant's name, Monsoon Masala serves up gulab jamon, made with rose water and milk and kheer, a homemade rice pudding, as well as pre-packaged desserts.

The restaurant, which serves a lunch buffet seven days a week, as well as dinner, is owned and operated by Atlanta natives -- and Cross Keys High School graduates -- Sam Motin and Jamil Rahman, according to We Love BuHi.
