A restaurant that has been part of the Atlanta dining scene for 16 years is about to get a new look.

Aria will close from April 24-May 1 for a renovation in a bid to "reach out to a younger diner," chef/owner Gerry Klaskala said in an e-mail press release. "What once was conservative will now be more playful," he said.

The redesign, overseen by Stacey Kirby of Atlanta’s Seiber Design, will include backlit mirrors, leather banquettes, white oak tabletops along in the main dining room and a white marble bar top in the bar area. Outside, black accents will be added to the door and windows, and a new Aria sign has been commissioned.

The restaurant will reopen for service on May 2, and will also be open for dinner on Sunday, May 8, a night they're normally closed.

Former AJC food editor John Kessler gave the restaurant high marks when he reviewed it alongside Kevin Gillespie's Gunshow in 2015 , calling it an "explar of what dining can and should aspire to."

Aria, 490 East Paces Ferry, Atlanta. 404-233-7673, aria-atl.com.
