No need to visit the coast to feast on a fresh catch of the day—in fact, you need only drive over to Atlantic Seafood Company in Alpharetta. The oft-overlooked mainstay near Northpoint Mall may not be as flashy as its newer counterparts in the neighborhood, but it's worth a visit for seafood lovers in search of fresh fare . Here are five reasons you should dine at Atlantic Seafood Company.

1. Fresh catch options. The restaurant's plethora of ever-changing fresh catch options is a highlight of the menu. From seafood like Atlantic salmon, mountain trout, Chilean sea bass and African prawns, there's something to satisfy seafood purists who like simple, but flavorful preparations. Choose to have your fresh catch grilled, meuniere or blackened, which gives the dish a nice zing that's not overly spicy.
2. Large menu of seafood dishes. If you're in search of a more creative dish, the rest of the sizable menu holds plenty of choices. It's hard to go wrong with the prawn tempura appetizer, enveloped in crispy, flaky breading and complemented with a bright chili citrus vinaigrette, for a textured, meaty bite. Among entrees, try the wasabi tuna for an Asian-inspired dish or the soy-honey glazed Chilean sea bass atop a sticky rice cake and baby bok choy for a blend of sweet and savory flavors.

3. Ultra-fresh sushi. The menu also sports a good line-up of sushi. Grab a seat at the sushi bar and get your fill of nigiri and sashimi, as well as usual suspects like spicy tuna and rainbow rolls or signature rolls, aka Chef Vin's Creations. If you like a little heat, try the Hot Alpharetta roll of spicy crab salad with jalapeno, plus cooling avocado and cream cheese, which gets flash fried and finished with sweet chili sauce.
4. Articulate, knowledgeable wait staff. It's not every day we're overly impressed by the service at a restaurant—or, specifically, by how knowledgeable the servers are. But at Atlantic Seafood Company, the wait staff is well trained, describing dishes with the expert language of a chef and skillfully recommending items with fluidity.
5. Solid cocktails. Sure you can order wine, beer or sake here, but the craft cocktails are more exciting—Think: Moscow mule, blood orange martini or a "fiery" mojito whose kick comes from ginger and a strawberry-red chili syrup. Sip on the "original" smoked Old Fashioned if you're feeling old school.
