Bell’s Two Hearted Ale topped the 2019 Zymurgy magazine Best Beers in America poll, voted on by members of the American Homebrewers Association. And Bell’s Brewery was ranked the top brewery, too.
You can be sure those voters and many other beer-flavored beer lovers will be excited to see Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale hit the shelves in bottles this week for the first time.
Described by Bell’s as “Everything you love about our classic Two Hearted Ale, now in a double IPA,” it’s this week’s Beer Pick.

Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale
Bell's Brewery, Michigan
Available on draft and in 6-pack 12-ounce bottles
Profile
Bell’s Double Two Hearted Ale is made with two and a half times the amount of Centennial hops used in the classic Two Hearted American-style IPA recipe. And the alcohol by volume jumps from 7% to 11%.
In other words, this one goes to a big, boozy 11, with even more intense pine and citrus notes, aromas of resin and grapefruit in the nose, and plenty of caramel malt on the palate to balance the bitterness.
Pair with
Think cheese or dessert when you’re wondering what to match with Double Two Hearted. Choose strong smoked or washed rind cheeses, and especially farmhouse cheddar or Stilton, or rich desserts like a double chocolate flourless torte or heavy, New York-style cheesecake.
