On Saturday from 11-a.m.-6 p.m., Bold Monk Brewing continues it’s weekly Drink Beer Do Good curbside pickup and drive-through.

All proceeds from sales go to the Brewed to Serve Employee Benefit Fund, including any tips or donations.

You can buy six packs for $10 and cases for $40, including Shared Spirit IPA, Chant Lager, Brother Ivan Imperial Stout, Discipline Dubbel, and Indominus Quadruple.

The drive-though will be set up in front of the brewery’s dockside doors, with staff ready to greet you when you pull up.

Credit cards will be accepted for purchase with ID check, or you can purchase in advance at the Bold Monk CraftCellr page.

And with that, one of my current favorite Bold Monk offerings, Discipline Dubbel, is this week’s Beer Pick.

Discipline Dubbel

Bold Monk Brewing, Atlanta

Available at Bold Monk on Saturdays and from CraftCellr online.

Profile

Discipline Dubbel is Bold Monk’s take on the classic Belgian style. Brewmaster John “JR” Roberts says it’s brewed with a blend of German Pils malt and Belgian Pale and Abbey malts, along with a blend of amber and dark Belgian Candi sugars, and fermented with a yeast strain from “a famous Trappist brewery in Malle, Belgium.”

The result is a reddish brown ale with a light tan head, aromatic notes of toasted raisin bread, brandy and dark fruit, and a touch of caramel sweetness before a clean, somewhat dry finish. At 7.3% alcohol, it’s a great food beer, which is typical of the style.

Pair with

One classic pairing for Belgian Dubbel is duck with cherry sauce. But Discipline would be equally good with foie gras, beef stew or a big juicy burger topped with blue cheese.
