Third time might just be the charm for a fast-growing Atlanta brewery.

Plans are in place for a third expansion at Scofflaw Brewing Company , known for its IPAs and barrel-aged stouts. A 50-barrel, four-vessel brewhouse is scheduled to be installed by March 1 at the current brewing facility at 1738 MacArthur Blvd. NW in West Midtown.

The expansion in the first 18 months of operation will double the brewery's current capacity to 30,000 barrels per year. A second expansion earlier this year increased the brewery's capacity to 14,000 barrels per year.

Co-founder Matt Shirah said in a press release that the expansion will "give (Scofflaw) the capacity (it) needs going forward."

He said he anticipates that much of the new capacity will be needed to satisfy the keg demand from restaurants, gastropubs, beer bars, tap rooms and growler shops. The expansion will make some of the brewery’s original fermentation tanks available for more experimental beers to be served in Scofflaw's tap room.

The brewery's current brewhouse will be sold to a Georgia craft brewer after the new installation.
