It's been in the works for awhile , but now it's official -- beloved Italian restaurant will close on April 25 after 41 years in business.

The restaurant, located at 1989 Cheshire Bridge Rd. NE in Atlanta, is reportedly being torn down to make way for new apartments. Owner Perry Alvarez confirmed the closure in January, but didn't have an exact date at the time.

The closure was addressed on Facebook yesterday, including the intention to open in a new location:

Alvarez, who joined the restaurant as a partner in 1977 and bought out the other owners in the mid-1980s, seemed philisophical about the closing when talking to AJC reporter Bill Torpy earlier this year :

“What can you do? That’s progress. It’s all about the money,” Alvarez said.
