Atlanta's twin baby pandas are growing up.
Mei Lun and Mei Huan turn two on Wednesday, July 15, and special goodies will await them in their habitats at Zoo Atlanta.
Their birthday cakes -- featuring ice, not icing -- are still being assembled, and won't be ready until Saturday, July 18.
Each giant panda cub will receive a personalized "cake," with colorful (but nutritious) vegetables frozen inside.
Visitors to the zoo can see the pandas enjoying their treats on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., and see them tear into their cakes on Saturday, also at 1:30 p.m.
Born July 15, 2013, the female twins are the fourth and fifth offspring of giant panda pair Lun Lun and Yang Yang and are the only surviving pair of giant panda twins ever born in the U.S.
They were weaned from their mother, Lun Lun, in February, and have been living in a separate enclosure since then.
Their older siblings, Mei Lan, 8 and Xi Lan, 6 (both males) and 4-year-old female Po, reside at China’s Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.
