After two years of shows at Atlanta's Atlantic Station, Cirque du Soleil is eying Gwinnett as the venue for its new production. The Canadian circus troupe will bring "Varekai" to Gwinnett Arena in Duluth for eight shows July 29 to Aug. 2.

The story of Varekai, according to a press release, "begins as Icarus, a solitary young man, falls from the sky and lands in a lush, wonderous world called Varekai. Parachuted into the shadows of a magical forest – a kaleidoscopic world imbued with fantastical creatures – Icarus takes flight in an adventure both absurd and extraordinary."

Cirque du Soleil staged the show "Amaluna" last year and "Totem" the year before.
