Things are hot all over, but especially so for Michi Meko.
The Atlanta artist has a one-man show opening Saturday at Alan Avery Art Company, “Pursuit: Almost Drowned.”
And Meko's first work purchased by the High Museum of Art will go on view as part of the exhibition "Sprawl: Drawing Outside the Lines," opening July 18 at the museum. The sprawling, 115-work show is a sequel to the High's popular 2013 exhibit of Atlanta-based artists "Drawing Inside the Perimeter." (More info: www.high.org.)
“Pursuit: Almost Drowned” probes stereotypes and how “many of these false assumptions have, in fact, become (Meko’s) very salvation,” according to Avery.
Through Aug. 8. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays. 315 E. Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta. 404-237-0370, www.alanaveryartcompany.com.
