The Golden Globes are almost here — and now, we’ve officially gotten the nominee list!

The nominee announcement didn’t seem to surprise many as most of the titles, in both the TV and film categories, were very popular among viewers. “The Banshees of Inisherin,” a dark comedy about a fractured friendship during the Irish Civil War, led the way with nominations at the Globes, racking up eight nods, including best picture in the musical or comedy genre, as well as for Martin McDonagh’s directing and screenplay. The multiverse sci-fi movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” wasn’t far behind in nominations, earning six.

Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical films “The Fabelmans,” “Babylon” and “Elvis” also didn’t trail too far behind, each earning five nominations.

Representing Atlanta, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” which was predominantly filmed in Atlanta, scored two nominations. The first nomination went to Angela Bassett for her role as Queen Ramonda and another for Rihanna’s original song in the film, “Lift Me Up.” Bassett’s nomination is actually historic, as it marks the first-ever Golden Globes acting nomination for a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film.

When it comes to the television side of things, the hit series about the teachers and students in a Philadelphia public school, “Abbott Elementary,” earned the most nominations of any TV show with five! The nods include creator Quinta Brunson’s lead performance as well as the best television series (musical or comedy).

“The White Lotus,” “Dahmer,” “The Crown,” “Pam & Tommy” and “Only Murders in the Building” followed close behind with four nominations apiece.

The creator and star of the show “Atlanta,” Donald Glover, earned himself and the show a nomination for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy.

Jerrod Carmichael, an Emmy Award-winning comedian, writer and actor, is set to host the 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony, scheduled to air live at 8 p.m., on Jan. 10 on NBC and Peacock. Check out the full list of nominees here!
