It’s been two years since Lil Baby, the Atlanta native, dropped an album, but his new project proves to be worth the wait for fans.

Lil Baby’s new album, “It’s Only Me,” seems to be making up for lost time, as it’s a 23-track album – which is pretty rare for albums nowadays. Out of the 23 songs, there are eight other artists featured, including fellow ATLiens Future and Young Thung, along with EST Gee, Rylo Rodriguez, Nardo Wick, Pooh Shiesty, Jeremih and Fridayy. It clearly is “only” Lil Baby, as the album’s main cover art image is a depiction of Mount Rushmore, featuring four images of the rapper throughout his life.

The album is already getting some very promising stats, aiming for a No. 1 debut on the U.S. albums chart.

If Lil Baby’s previous releases are any indication of how well this album will do, he’s on the right track. The rapper’s single featuring Gunna, “Drip Too Hard,” was recently certified Diamond with sales of over 10 million copies. The “Yes Indeed” recording artist also just closed out this year’s One Musicfest and released the FIFA World Cup’s official 2022 theme song, “The World is Yours to Take.”

As we all know, there has been a lot going on in the world over the past two years, and the founder of the 4PF record label has taken that time to grow as an artist. “The way I’m talking and the things I’m talking about, that’s the growth,” Lil Baby told Angie Martinez with The Angie Martinez Show. “I might’ve said something in the last album about leasing a car. I might be saying something in this album about credit. It’s a mature album.” While the content on the album may give off a more mature vibe and showcase the man he is becoming, Lil Baby’s real excitement comes from somewhere else. “I’m actually most proud that I’m actually dropping an album. I’ve been saying I’m going to drop for a long time, and I haven’t dropped,” Lil Baby told Martinez.

While it may seem like Lil Baby is just getting started, it seems the 27-year-old already has his eyes on the finish line. “I just always had that thought in my head, like I don’t want to be no older rapper, 35, 36.” Lil Baby told Martinez.

As for now, we can all breathe easily, as he has quite some time before he hits that age. And as for his new album? The rapper simply wants to make sure everyone gives it a second listen. “I just hope everybody catches and receives it. I hope it’s what they expect and what they waited on.”
