Grab your skates! The official Cascade Skate team is looking for new members
We already know how legendary Cascade Skating Rink is, and now they’re looking to make you a part of their legacy by adding a few new members to the team.
“The official skate team of Cascade Skating Rink is looking for new members,” Cascade Skate’s official Instagram page posted. “The Dream Team represents bonding in brotherhood and sisterhood in roller-skating. Monday, Nov 7 | 6 P.M. @ Cascade Skating Rink.”
Cascade Skating Rink has been around since March 2000. It was founded by Greg Alexander, a native New Yorker and 10-year veteran of the United States Air Force. In 1998, Alexander purchased four acres of land on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Interstate 285 and built the rink we know and love, Cascade Family Skating.
Within three months of opening, Cascade Family Skating became nationally known by hosting birthday parties and other events for artists including Beyonce, P-Diddy, Magic Johnson and so many others. It’s also a super popular location for shooting music videos and even movies. In 2006, Cascade served as the backdrop to the movie “ATL,” which really brought the skating rink to the masses.
More recently, the City Girls and Usher shot their music video for “Good Love” at Cascade.
There are a few things you need to know before you head to the official Cascade Skate team auditions: You must be 18 years or older, able to attend weekly practice, you can’t be a part of another skate crew, and you must have reliable transportation. “Dress comfortably and be ready to show us your best moves,” the official Cascade Dream Team account wrote.
While there are requirements, there are also some really amazing perks: free admission to Cascade, all skating outfits are provided, you’ll get referrals for performance opportunities and discounts for skate purchases!
