It’s Officially ‘Nappy Roots Day’ in Atlanta, celebrate at Atlantucky Brewing

The city is making it official with the Grammy-nominated group, Nappy Roots.
Congratulations are in order for the group, as Sept. 16 has been declared Nappy Roots Day in Atlanta. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and his office announced the proclamation of Nappy Roots Day due to the group’s philanthropic efforts through mentorship programs, support of local nonprofits and creation of community events. “The proclamation will celebrate Nappy Roots’ numerous contributions to the City of Atlanta,” a Rhythm Communications official stated.
Today is a big day for the group, as not only is it their day in the city, but they also released a new single today, “Random Thoughts.” The song is set to be on their ninth studio album, which is scheduled for an early 2023 release.
Of course, this honor deserves a celebration! The group’s brewery, right here in Atlanta, Atlantucky Brewing, is inviting you to celebrate their accomplishments with them – they’ll be hosting a public Nappy Roots Day “Nappy Hour” event from 3-6 p.m. You’ll even be able to try their new seasonal European lager “Naptoberfest.” The party doesn’t stop there though – after Nappy Hour, there will be an after-party where you’ll get to see a performance from the group and other special guests from 6-9 p.m.
The group got its start when a sextet of students attending Western Kentucky University, got together in 1995. After gaining the attention of several major labels, the group eventually signed to Atlantic and released their debut album in 2002. Nappy Roots saw much success from there, eventually landing them two Grammy nominations – one for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for their song “Po’ Folks” and another for Best Long Form Music Video for “The World According To Nappy.”
Make sure you play at least one Nappy Roots song today in honor of all of their accomplishments!
