The loss last night only made things that much worse!

With football season back in full swing, most teams have released videos to get fans hyped for the upcoming season – many videos including music artists. The Atlanta Falcons was one of the teams that followed that formula. The Falcons’ hype video features singer/actor Rotimi, well known for his role as Dre in the series “Power.” Rotimi is decked out in Falcons gear and raps “Red, black and white, yeah, we gon’ rise up.… ATL that’s my town, if you know the colors then say it loud.”

Many fans were confused because Rotimi isn’t from Atlanta, he’s from New Jersey. With Atlanta being such a hot spot for music artists, many debated why the Falcons didn’t reach out to someone from Atlanta.

It wasn’t just social media users and fans that took issue with Rotimi being the voice and face of the hype video – a few well-known Atlanta celebrities also took to social media to question the Falcons’ choice.

Atlanta is home to many artists, including T.I., Jermaine Dupri, Lil Baby, Migos, Future, Latto, Gucci Mane, JID, Outkast, Lil Jon, 2 Chainz, Ludacris and so many more. This latest video does beg the question, why didn’t they reach out to one of the artists listed above, or even someone not on that list?

Rotimi seems to be taking all the criticism in stride though – after last night’s painful loss, he took to his Instagram to poke fun at all the conversation, as his alter ego, Mr. Sexy Nigerian Butterscotch, “They’re going to kill Rotimi.… he loves Lil Baby. I want us to win. He wants us to win. He loves T.I. He loves Outkast and Waffle House and all of the amazing things in Atlanta,” Rotimi said in the video, captioned “We are on the same side #theycalledme.”

After all of this conversation, one can only wonder, will they put out another hype video that actually includes Atlanta artists? We’ll just have to wait and see!
