Even though Atlanta’s annual Pride festival isn’t until October, there’s still opportunities to mark LGBTQ+ Pride Month this month with the rest of the country.

If you’re looking to celebrate, here is a list of Pride-related events and festivals happening in and around Atlanta this month:

Drag Queen Story Time at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta

Come to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta for an interactive storytime with Miss Terra Cotta Sugarbaker, a local drag queen. In addition, children will be able to learn about the Pride Flag and create rainbow arts and crafts. The event is held on the CMA stage.

Time: 3 p.m. June 4 and 5; Location: Downtown - 275 Centennial Olympic Park Drive NW; Admission: $17.95, get tickets; Website: childrensmuseumatlanta.org; Contact: 404-659-5437

Atlanta Pride Run at Piedmont Park

For more than 30 years, the Atlanta Pride 5K Run has helped raise money and awareness for LGBTQ+ communities in the greater Atlanta area. This year’s event will take place in Piedmont Park and will offer both virtual and in-person options. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7 a.m.

When you’ve finished the course — or simply decided it’s time to party — head to Guac y Margys Midtown for a post-race celebration.

Come As You Are Festival: “The Sound Of Identity” screening

“The Sound Of Identity” is a historic, feature-length documentary about the first openly transwoman to headline a U.S. opera. Lucia Lucas, who plays Don Giovanni, breaks down social barriers, paving the way for other trans opera performers. Following the screening, Lucas will participate in a discussion with filmmaker James Kicklighter and Executive Producer Andy Kinslow.

Time: 7 p.m. June 13; Location: West Midtown - 999 Brady Avenue NW; Admission: Free, registration required; Website: outfronttheatre.com; Contact: 404-448-2755
