The percentage of Georgians who don't have health insurance has dropped slightly in recent years, in part because of the Affordable Care Act. But it remains stubbornly high.
A recent study ranks all of Georgia's 159 counties by what percentage of their residents are uninsured. Fayette County on metro Atlanta's south side has the lowest rate with 16 percent of its citizen not having health insurance. It's followed closely by Forsyth County also with 14 percent uninsured.
Chattahoochee (15 percent), Columbia (15 percent) and Harris (15 percent) round out the top five counties with the lowest uninsured rates.

The annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps project was created by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The study provides a snapshot of a community's overall health. It looks at health measures, such as rates of obesity and smoking, access to medical care, long commute times and sexually transmitted diseases.
