New video games out this week

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain." The overwrought chronicles of Solid Snake return in this 1984-set thriller. There are new multiplayer online modes, a buddy system and a new open-world system of missions in this long-awaited sequel. Rated M for Mature. $50-$100 for Standard, or Collector's Editions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

"Max Max." This year's most visceral movie becomes a video game in what you'd hope might be an action-packed title with lots of vehicular chaos. The open-world third-person action game is about building the ultimate war vehicle. Rated M for Mature. $60, for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
