Madewell is the latest tenant to take a space at Avalon, the newish mixed-use development in Alpharetta. Madewell is an off-shoot of J. Crew specializing in denim and casual wear. This location will be the third in the metro area joining existing stores at Perimeter Mall and Lenox Square.

Avalon has also announced the July 4 opening of LottaFrutta  — its first location outside the perimeter. LottaFrutta is known for serving up fruit cups, smoothies, paletas (popsicles) and more in Old Fourth Ward.

Bonobos will open its second Atlanta-area location in July. See my story on the Buckhead Atlanta location for details on what it is all about.

Every Thursday – Sunday through the summer, King of Pops makes an appearance and on Tuesday and Wednesday through the end of July, Avalon’s all-premium Regal offers $1 movie tickets at 10 a.m.

In addition to new stores and store openings, Avalon will host three new events:

Sips & Strokes: On Saturday, June 13, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Avalon will host a private art class in Palmer Plaza featuring complimentary appetizers and $5 beer/glasses of wine from Colletta and Oak. Attendees will get step-by-step instructions to paint a masterpiece on a 16 x 20-inch canvas. The $25 ticket fee includes apron, brushes and easel. Reserve your space here.

The Punchline Comedy Night: Enjoy live comedy along with free appetizers and $5 beer/glasses of wine from Colletta and Oak Steakhouse. The performances last about 90 minutes and are recommended for ages 13 and older. The lineup features Dan Menghini on Monday, July 6, at 7:30 p.m. and Mia Jackson on Monday, Aug. 3, at 7:30 p.m.

Wine Down Wednesday: On the first Wednesday of every month, join Avalon on the rooftop of Cru Wine Bar for a glass of wine and live musical performances from 4  – 7 p.m. Upcoming dates include July 1, Aug. 5, Sept. 2 and Oct. 7.
