Prom season has arrived! If you haven’t already scored the perfect prom dress (and many girls already have), you have a few upcoming options to get a dress for free or at a 50 percent discount.
Enchanted Closet: Now in its 13th year, this organization will host the Enchanting Lives Dress Drive through March 14 at Northlake Mall. The collected items will be given away Saturday, March 14 from 12 – 4 p.m. in the Upper Level Sears Wing at Northlake Mall. There will be a boutique-style setting with onsite personal shoppers to help girls choose the perfect dress, accessories and makeup for their very special prom nights. Enchanted Closet will also host its Enchanting Lives Prom Prep 101 and Vendor Fair on Saturday, March 28 from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Center Court at Northlake Mall. Attendees will learn proper prom etiquette, event tips and more from a variety of prom-related organizations and businesses.
There is still time to donate items to the event now through Friday. You can take formal dresses and other prom-related items to Northlake Mall's Management Office, Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Donations are tax-deductible. Items in need include:
• New or gently used formal dresses that are clean, in good condition and teen appropriate
• Prom accessories, such as jewelry, handbags, wraps and shoes
• Gift certificates to restaurants, florists, limos, hair salons and nail salons
• Toiletry and goodie bag items, including bath gels, lotions and hair and skin care products

Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's annual Prom Dress Giveaway: The DSTDAC Prom Dress Giveaway takes place Saturday, March 14th from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Community Achievement Center, 4522 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur. Dresses and accessories are available on a first come, first served basis. All attendees must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dresses are new or gently used (some may require dry cleaning).
