Former vice president Al Gore, who spoke at South by Southwest Interactive in 2012 on a panel with entrepreneur Sean Parker and then again in 2013 on the topic of "The Future," is making a return engagement.

The festival announced today that Gore will lead off the festival on Friday with an 11 a.m. presentation. He’ll be preceded in Exhibit Hall 5 of the Austin Convention Center by festival director Hugh Forrest, who’ll deliver opening remarks at 10:15 a.m.

The topic of Gore’s talk is, “The Climate Crisis: Challenge & Opportunity,” and unlike previous SXSW appearances, it’ll be a solo talk, not an interview, as was his last appearance with tech journalist Walt Mossberg.
