In this week's episode of "Statesman Shots," we had as our guest Stacey Higginbotham, a senior writer at Gigaom who covers connected devices.

It’s a great conversation and we cover a lot o ground including what constitutes a smart home, what some of the innovations out of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show might mean for our daily lives and even a recommendation on a smart baking scale.

There’s also a video you can see on whether our homes should be smarter; we discuss products including Hue lights from Philips, the Nest thermostat and more.

You can check that out below:

In a few weeks, I’ll have a column about my current obsession with Wi-Fi connected bulbs and whether the price on them has dropped enough that you should dip in your toe.  (Spoiler: get a toe ready.)

Got thoughts or questions on smart devices you’d like to see addressed in future blog posts and columns? Let me know in the comments.
