SXSW Interactive announced on Thursday that comedian James Adomian will host its annual awards show on Tuesday, March 17. The SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards will happen at Hilton Austin Downtown and includes the festival's Hall of Fame induction and awards including Breakout Trend, Speaker of the Event and plenty of other categories.
Adomian has been a fixture of the last few years of SXSW Comedy events. He's been a standout of live tapings of the podcast "Comedy Bang Bang" portraying characters including The Sheriff of Nottingham and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura.
He's also got a comedy album, "Low Hangin Fruit" and also does a killer Marc Maron impression (warning: contains some NSFW language).
Other SXSW Interactive 2015 updates:
- Popular author Malcolm Gladwell has been added to the schedule as a featured speaker. He'll be interviewed by Benchmark General Partner Bill Gurley 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in Exhibit Hall 5 of the Austin Convention Center.
- Comedic actress Janet Varney ("The Legend of Korra," "You're the Worst") and YouTube celebrity Markiplier will host the second SXSW Gaming Awards at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Saturday, March 14.
- If you're already looking ahead to January, the festival will host an Austin meetup 6 p.m. on January 26 at Capital Factory.
