Toddler Takeover At Woodruff Arts Center
The Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the High Museum are joining artistic forces to host the first annual "Toddler Takeover: an Art's Festival for the Very Young" at the end of the month.
From puppetry storytelling to stroller gallery tours to an orchestra instrument petting zoo, the Woodruff Arts Center will be crawling with toddlers. The festival will be May 31 through June 2 at the Woodruff Arts Center. One day passes will cost $15.
"We are going to have kids everywhere which we love," exclaimed Chris Moses, education director at the Alliance Theatre.
Highlights of the event geared for children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years of age:
- Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Instrument Petting Zoo: Ever wanted to try an instrument on for size? In this hands-on station, children are encouraged to touch and play the instruments featured in the Orchestra.
- Alliance Theatre's Baby Yoga: A 30-minute yoga class gets mixed with live songs.
- Art Making and stroller tours at The High Museum: For the first time, the High will open 30 minutes early for stroller tours of the exhibits. (9:30 a.m. on Saturday May 31 and 11:30 0n Sunday, June 1). Also, inspired by the "Dreams Cars" exhibit, the museum will set up an art station with matchbox cars — allowing kids to dip the matchbox cars in tape and roll on paper.
Tickets for the shows are already sold out but there's plenty of activites for the very young.

Exposing very young children the arts can help nurture a child's creativity but can also be a useful tool for learning.
