The much-anticipated solar eclipse is just two days away. So many metro Atlanta residents and people traveling in for Monday’s big event are wondering: What will the weather be like?
Looks like some clouds could join the picture.
“I don’t know about clear skies,” Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said Saturday morning. “I think we will be dealing with some partly cloudy skies.”
Things should start getting darker — “a bit more like dusk,” Walls said — about 1 p.m. Monday. At that time, there should be a 25 percent cloud cover.

The eclipse should be in full effect about 2:36 p.m., with an expected 30 percent cloud cover, Walls said.
“I think we will be seeing enough breaks in the clouds that we will be getting a good shot of that solar eclipse,” she said.
About 4:01 p.m., at the end of the eclipse, clouds should be covering about 30 percent of the sky.
Rain chance is 20 percent Monday, and Walls said an isolated shower “cannot be ruled out.”
As for Saturday, a high of 92 is expected, 2 degrees above average for this date. Lower humidity should keep things from getting too uncomfortable.
“With that lower humidity in place,” Walls said, “at least we won’t be facing much of a heat index despite those toasty temperatures.”
About 4:15 p.m., the temperature was 84 in Atlanta and 81 in Blairsville, in the mountainous area that is prime territory for viewing the eclipse.
