The typical fall weather pattern for metro Atlanta will be in force this weekend. But it shouldn’t spoil any outdoor plans Saturday.

“Talk about fall in Atlanta — it’s a roller-coaster ride, as you know,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Katie Walls said.

Saturday should bring cloudy skies, but there’s no rain expected and the high, which hit 80 Friday, should reach 78. That’s 7 degrees above the average for this date.

That’s good news for the colleges and universities in metro Atlanta that have homecoming activities — such as football, parades, and tailgate events — planned for Saturday.

However, a cold front will be moving into the area soon, and Wednesday the high is expected to be 62.

“That’s the coolest air we have felt since April,” Walls said.

Shortly after 5 p.m., the temperature was at 76 in metro Atlanta.
