But overnight a cold front will sweep through the metro area and rain will start about 5 a.m., according to the latest forecast.

The rain chance is 80 percent for Wednesday.

Highs on Wednesday will drop to 57 degrees in Atlanta, and some metro areas will get up to an inch of rainfall, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Those showers are expected to continue through the early morning and evolve into downpours by 5 a.m.

“That will continue through the morning commute,” Nitz said.

Showers will subside by late morning.

Earlier, there were  217 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.
