Atlanta close to a record high

Metro Atlanta tied the record high temperature for Tuesday, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Just before 3 p.m., the temperature jumped to 86 degrees, tying the record high for this date, which had stood since 1984.

And temperatures are expected to reach a record-breaking 88 degrees Wednesday, according to the latest forecast.

The current record of 87 degrees was set in 1938, Channel 2 reported.

Temps were 74 degrees in Atlanta, 63 in Blairsville and 65 in Griffin at 10 p.m.

Don’t worry. It won’t feel like summer forever.

Metro Atlanta should be out of record-breaking territory by Friday, when there is a 30 percent rain chance.

The expected high that day is 72 degrees.
