Rain-weary residents of metro Atlanta and North Georgia are in for more wet stuff Saturday. But there seems to be a break coming soon.

“It has been a soggy week, and really we only have one more day,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Showers will continue through midafternoon, but drier air should begin to move into the North Georgia mountains at that time.

After a 70 percent chance of rain Saturday, there’s none in the forecast for Sunday.

“We’re setting up for a really nice finish to the weekend,” Monahan said.

However, a flash flood warning is in effect for many counties in metro Atlanta and North Georgia through 8 p.m. Saturday after the recent rain has left the ground soggy and some bodies of water near overflowing. There has been 1-3 inches of rain in the past 48 hours along and north of I-20, according to the National Weather Service.

An additional 1-2 inches of rainfall is possible through this evening, according to the alert.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the temps were at 82 in Atlanta, 82 in Griffin and 79 in Blairsville.
