It’s warming up ahead of possible spotty showers in metro Atlanta.

In fact, temperatures have already surpassed the average 72-degree high for this time of year, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Currently, it’s 77 degrees. The expected high in Atlanta is 80.

Showers hit northeast Georgia and the northern Atlanta suburbs about 5 p.m., Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said. According to the latest forecast, rain chances are at 10 percent for the metro area.

That slim chance dries up into the evening, and by midnight the sky will be clear, meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The warm weather and light rain are bad news for allergy sufferers.

The pollen count jumped from 1,028 Tuesday to 1,967 Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. The pollen count this time last year was 173.
