Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current FOX color commentator Troy Aikman just went ahead and said it — the Atlanta Falcons are not the same team that made it to the Super Bowl last season.

After the Falcons’ 20-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Aikman spoke about the team’s struggles and lack of opportunities on offense.

“The Atlanta Falcons are not the team we saw last year represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. ... It’s difficult when you start trying to compare this team with a record-setting season a year ago,” Aikman said. “They got some work to do and they need to get to it real quick because the season’s slowly starting to get away from them, having lost four out of the last five ball games.”

The Falcons (4-4) host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 4:25 p.m.
