Josh and I went into this project with the hope that writing about the parallel roads of recovery for both an addict and family members might help somebody. If even one person, whether somebody struggling with addiction or their parents, drew strength from our journey, then it would be worth it.

We’ve been overwhelmed and gratified by the thousands of people we’ve heard from — still to this day, more than two years after the story first appeared.

My wife and I continue to work our own recovery program, just as Josh is working his. After returning to the University of Georgia, he completed his degree and now works and lives in New York.
