Mitsubishi Electric Classic announces three early championship commitments

Officials from the Mitsubishi Electric Classic announced Wednesday that three former champions have accepted invitations to compete in the Duluth tournament.

Defending champion Stephen Ames, major championship winner Colin Montgomerie, and reigning Charles Schwab Cup Champion Kevin Sutherland all committed to play in the PGA TOUR Champions event.

The 54-hole stroke play golf tournaments is scheduled for April 9-15, 2018 at TPC Sugarloaf.

Ames, 53, won his first PGA TOUR Champions title at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic last year. Montgomerie, 54, has recorded six PGA TOUR Champions victories since joining the TOUR in June 2013. Sutherland, 53, is looking to record a third consecutive top-10 finish at TPC Sugarloaf.
